This Is Sirius – Art Exhibition

This Is Sirius

An exhibition celebrating Sirius and its residents
Annie Wyatt room, National Trust, Observatory Hill
8 June to 16 June, 10am – 5pm

Opened by Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore, 8 June at 6pm

We are seeking Sirius artworks about the building or its residents for an exhibition 9-16 June in the Annie Wyatt Room, an intimate space at the National Trust Centre on Observatory Hill.

Three years ago the residents of Sirius were told they were being relocated and the building was to be sold. The NSW government has refused heritage protection for Sirius and has called for its demolition. People responded with protests and media campaigns. Jack Mundey and Unions NSW imposed a Green Ban on Sirius. People made artworks to celebrate the building and its residents.

The Sirius Foundation is presenting This is Sirius, an exhibition celebrating Sirius and its residents. Artists are invited to submit paintings, photographs, sculpture, ceramics, jewellery, graphics, or work in other media. Artworks might include the Sirius building, One Way Jesus, Myra and the SOS lights, the Green Bans, Jack Mundey, Tao Gofers, etc.

The Annie Wyatt Room is a recently restored heritage room. All works hung must use the existing hanging system which requires two hanging points for each work. Contact us if you need more information about this.

Frames are provided for works 35 x 28 cm (or 28 x 20 cm includes a mount). Framed or ready-to-hang works are welcome. Small-scale works are preferred, and the number of works per artist will be restricted to allow many artists to be included in the exhibition. Small sculptures and ceramic works will be presented on tables.

Artists will be asked to look after the exhibition while it is open. They will be asked to enter their name and contact details on a roster which will be completed before the exhibition opens.

Complete the entry form (click here to download) and email it with a small photo of your work to piperpress@bigpond.com. Completed entries will be acknowledged and we will arrange a time for delivery to 37 Lower Fort Street, Dawes Point. You will be asked to attach your entry to the back of your work and deliver it by 7pm on 5 June 2017.
